Artist

Wiki Defined:

An artist is a person engaged in an activity related to creating art, practicing the arts, or demonstrating an art. The common usage in both everyday speech and academic discourse is a practitioner in the visual arts only. The term is often used in the entertainment business, especially in a business context, for musicians and other performers (less often for actors). “Artiste” (the French for artist) is a variant used in English only in this context; this use has become rare. Use of the term to describe writers, for example, is valid, but less common, and mostly restricted to contexts like criticism.

Being an Artist

Defined by me:

A magical curse.

Magical

Wiki Defined:

Magic is the power to use supernatural forces to make impossible things happen. Beautiful or delightful in such a way as to seem removed from everyday life.

Curse

Wiki Defined:

A solemn utterance intended to invoke a supernatural power to inflict harm or punishment on someone or something.

There are some things that you cannot deny in life and one of those things for me is being an Artist.

I believe everyone is an Artist in one way or another.  But “Being an Artist” is on a whole other level.  It feels like a curse because everything you see, hear, feel, smell or taste give you higher senses and make you feel and think deeper as simple ordinary life becomes just so much more. Being able to connect with people, nature or objects in every day life and dig deep by giving them meaning and truly understanding all perspectives that give us the ability to learn and grow. And most importantly, be inspired.

Being an Artist is seeing the world like you have never seen it each time you watch the sunrise or sunset; every. single. day.  You see that anything is possible.

As you grow and open your heart, believe that you have the courage to just be yourself and let go entirely of everything you thought you knew.

Connecting every day life.

Now back to reality.  Every day life.  There is energy. Lots of different energy, everywhere.  Some good. Some bad. That is where art lies. That is where the difference between “an Artist” verses “Being an Artist”.  Process.

In art school, my process was always important to me.  Picking up the pencil and paper means everything to me.  There is something magical about writing on a piece of paper that connects me on a spiritual level. Everything seems possible. Isn’t this how reality should be? How do I make this feeling a reality?

Open to everything that comes your way with love.

Being an Artist comes with a lot of pain.  We are human and this journey includes pain.  Life is about taking this pain and turning it into something magical.  Transforming energy through your process.

Finding love in every one gets harder and harder as you open your heart.  But what most don’t understand is that you really have nothing to lose.  Today is the first day and last day all at the same time.  There is no time to hold on to pain. hurt. anger. the list goes on…

How do you let go? Where does the love go? Did you ever have anything to lose? Or just everything to give?

This is art.

Life.

Today is the day to live your dreams.
